How does one begin to describe themselves? Gosh. From the outside in I guess.
I am an English Artisan. I don't necessarily mean English as in nationality, although I am.
The Englishness I refer to is based more in the cultural, the mildly eccentric and with an inherited sense of English awkwardness which merges seamlessly with my sense of determination to see projects through to completion. In the face of adversity, as in attempting the technically improbable let alone impossible, I muster up a wealth of stubbornness which would shame the hardiest of mules.
I am unique. So is my art.
I am a long standing member of Outside In, an organisation where outsider artists can feel at home. I am disabled with arthritis, and other associated disabilities, which makes holding a paintbrush quite challenging, but not impossible. These changes in our body just take a while to adjust to. All things are doable, given time.
Many of you will know me as Kate Lomax, - Yep! I am still she! However, - I have, in 2018, transitioned my company name to MacKitty, taken from the first three letters of my surname, and Kitty, - pet name of Kate. An innovation from my daughter, as I toyed with Kitty Mac, which just didn’t feel right. Far too young for this old bird!

All things are doable, given time. Hence, since the added hurdle of heart failure several years ago, I have focussed more on illustration and fabric design, sending myself, during lockdown, to Central St Martins College for some online expert tuition in book illustration and to refreshing existing skills. I feel I have grown so much creatively. Immersing myself in learning new skills and methodologies. I am in the process of linking my outlets in this one space, so please bear with me. In the meantime, please enjoy my art, and if you feel inclined, all coffee donations received with love & gratitude.xx 💛 xx
